HUNTER'S CREEK, Fla. – The Osceola Regional Medical Center opened a free-standing emergency room in Hunter's Creek on Monday.
The ER, which will serve both pediatric and adult patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is located at 12100 John Young Parkway.
Osceola Regional Medical Center officials say the new ER has been much-needed after the South Orlando/North Osceola counties have seen a boom in population in the last few years.
"They felt the need in the community because they were getting such a large volume of patients to our ER that it would be beneficial for us to have," said Dr. Craig Mitchell.
The $10 million facility is nearly 11,000 square feet and will serve about 300,000 people in the area. It employs about 45 people, including doctors and nurses.
