MOUNT DORA, Fla. – The winner in a deadlocked race for city council was determined on Tuesday night by pulling a name from a hat.
Marie Rich was named the winner of the Mount Dora Council race over incumbent Nick Girone at a city council meeting.
A hand recount after the Nov. 4 election left the Mount Dora Council race between Girone and Rich tied at just over 2,300 votes each.
The council wanted to select the winner by the luck of the draw. However, some wanted a judge to force a runoff election.
