Final capsule installed on Orlando Eye

Giant observation wheel to open this spring

ORLANDO, Fla. – The final passenger capsule was put into place in the 400-foot observation wheel on Orlando's International Drive.

The 30th capsule was installed Thursday on the Orlando Eye, the huge observation wheel that now towers over Orlando's tourist district.

Once it opens later this spring, the Orlando Eye will give as many as 450 passengers at any given time 360-degree views of Central Florida.

The Orlando Eye is one of several projects under construction along International Drive, the heart of Orlando's tourist district.

The observation wheel is part of an entertainment and dining complex under construction that also will include an aquarium and a wax museum.

Another multimillion-dollar entertainment complex that includes a 570-foot roller coaster also is being constructed.
