ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Orlando TV personality Wendy Chioji, who currently hosts "Surviving and Thriving" on Local 6, announced Wednesday on her blog that she's still battling cancer.
Chioji underwent surgery in Orlando in the fall of 2013 to remove a mass on her thymus gland, which sits directly behind the breast bone.

"There are 4 to 5 small tumors in my chest wall that weren't there in April," Chioji wrote in her blog.
Chioji said she is feeling well and is not currently undergoing chemotherapy. She hopes to get involved in a clinical trial as soon as possible.
"I am calling in every chip I have ever thrown out, trying to get in to a clinical trial called PD-1 or PD-L1. These are for drugs that are basically immune system inhibitor inhibitors," she wrote. "They turn off the governor that causes an immune system to stop working. Merck, Genentech, Medimmune, and my good friends at Bristol Myers are all running trials on this therapy. "
Chioji was first diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago, won that battle and traded in her news anchor job to become a competitive triathlete, fitness coach and Livestrong advocate.
