Police said a vehicle was slowing down for the turtle when the dump truck struck the back of the vehicle, prompting both vehicles to ignite.

Eastbound SR 44 was shut down as the investigation continued, but was reopened just after 5:30 p.m. with detours.

Police said to expect delays between Wallace Road and Myrtle Avenue.
