TAMPA, Fla. – A man who was found dead at a birthday party in Tampa nearly two months after surviving the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub died of natural causes, according to the Hillsborough County Chief Medical Examiner.
Chris Brodman was found unconscious around 1 a.m. Sept. 11. An autopsy found that irregularities in the blood vessels formation in Brodman's brain caused them to spontaneously burst.
Brodman was on the patio at Pulse on June 12 when Omar Mateen opened fire, killing 49 people during the three-hour attack.
"Last call. We went out to the patio to have a cigarette, and we were out there when the shots started to be fired," Brodman told News 6 nine days after the shooting. "I said, 'Run. Just run, run, run.' And we all just ran out the bar."
