Family of man accused of for aiding Markeith Loyd talks to News 6

Sister: "We don't have anything to do with anything"

Wazeer Mayan, the father of Zarghee Mayan, answered the door at his Orlando home on Wednesday morning and invited in News 6 anchor Erik von Ancken.

Wazeer Mayan, from Afghanistan, insisted in broken English that his son leaves for work - his Texas Chicken restaurants on S. Orange Blossom Trail and Americana Blvd. - in the morning and comes straight home at night.

"Go to the job, at night come home," said Mayan. "Goes to work, baby here, wife here, nothing."

Mayan said his son has four children.

"Police say Zarghee helped Markeith hide?" asked von Ancken.

"Go to work, come home, my son come home," said Mayan.

"So you say he didn't help?" asked von Ancken.

"No, no, no," said Mayan.

"Why is he in jail?" asked von Ancken.

"I don't know," said Mayan.

Police said Zarghee Mayan, known as "Naz" on his Facebook page, gave Markeith Loyd food on Saturday evening when Loyd came to Texas Chicken on S. O.B.T. asking for money.

Police said Zarghee Mayan knew Loyd was accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend and noticed Loyd was carrying a gun and wearing a bullet-proof vest.

Von Ancken confronted Zarghee Mayan's sister at the Texas Chicken restaurant.

"Police say Markeith Loyd was here over the weekend?" asked von Ancken.

"I don't think that happened but I'd really appreciate..." said a woman who identified herself as Zarghee Mayan's sister.

"They say if 'Naz' had called police over the weekend that these two police officers wouldn't have been killed?" asked von Ancken.

"You know, we don't have anything to do with anything," she said.

Zarghee Mayan's wife, Patima Bibi, told von Ancken that Loyd worked for her husband as a delivery driver.

"They're saying your husband helped Markeith Loyd?" asked von Ancken.

"No," said Bibi in her broken English. "No, just the store, just delivery. Just deliveries, yes."
