LEESBURG, Fla. – A Leesburg mother is behind bars after she and her children are accused of robbing a Sunoco convenience store August 22, the Leesburg Police Department said.
The store co-manager alerted police after discovering that scratch off lottery tickets were missing.
According to the report, the store was closed, but was not locked.
Surveillance video showed Alichia Dennard and her three children, ages 10, 11 and 13, entering the store, taking drinks, food, cigarettes and then running out of the store.
"She was checking, and no one was here," an employee told News 6.
Police said the surveillance video shows the family looking around for an employee, but no one was there.
Investigators say that's when Dennard told her kids to steal several items.
The family left, but employees say about half an hour later they came back.
"She will break in again. She wasn't satisfied with what she (took). She will come again," an employee said while watching the surveillance video.
The video shows two of the suspects running in and out of the store several times.
Police said they also went behind the counter and stole several lotto scratch off tickets.
Police were able to identify Dennard. She told police that her two female children were involved in the incident and her brother was driving the car.
Investigators tell News 6 Dennard is also accused of stealing from a Walmart last month while she was shopping with her children.
Dennard is charged with burglary, petit theft, grand theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police said the 11-year-old and the 13-year-old also face charges, possibly burglary and theft.
She is being held on $24,500 bond.
