ORLANDO, Fla. – Authorities have arrested the man they say killed a woman at an Orlando hotel room in June that later led to a nationwide hunt for her young son.
Amber Carruthers, 32, of Oregon, was found in the bathtub on June 17 inside an Econolodge hotel room on South Orange Blossom Trail, deputies said. Orange County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Julio Cuenca, 28, of Orlando, on charges of second-degree murder, and destruction of evidence.

Detectives said Carruthers was stabbed to death.
Carruthers' 7-year-old son, Donovan, was reported missing 10 days after her murder. He was later found in California with Carruthers' boyfriend, Joseff Rhodes, 41, who brought the boy to local authorities.
A month after Carruthers' death detectives released video surveillance from the hotel of a man in dark clothing walking with the 32-year-old victim. It's unknown if that person of interest was Cuenca.
Cuenca was arrested on Oct. 20 on unrelated drug charges charges. While in the Orange County Jail, a detective was able to document a stab wound to Cuenca's arm through a search warrant, according to the arrest report. Cuenca was then charged with second-degree murder.
