Man found shot to death in doorway of Orange County home

Deputies launch death investigation; homeowner found with head injuries

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A homeowner shot and killed a man who lived in his house in east Orange County, deputies said.

The fatal shooting was reported around 8:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Vonderay Road, near State Road 417 and East Colonial Drive.

Sheriff's officials said a 53-year-old man was found shot to death in the open doorway of the home.

The homeowner, a 47-year-old man, was found inside the home with significant head injuries, officials said. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

"The deceased person lived in the home," the Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "A physical altercation led to the homeowner firing a gun and killing the (man)."

Investigators said they are not looking for anyone and there's no danger to the community.

An investigation is ongoing.
