ORLANDO, Fla. – Recently released body camera video shows Orlando Pride star Alex Morgan and Orlando City Soccer defender Donny Toia getting ousted from Walt Disney World property after an altercation at Epcot.
Morgan was with MLS players Giles Barnes and Donny Toia and his wife, Courtney Toia, "drinking around the world" at Epcot on Oct. 1 when the incident happened, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy's body camera video, released on Tuesday, shows Morgan, Donny Toia and Courtney Toia in an interview room on Disney property.
Video of the incident at the U.K. pub, where one of the athletes reportedly cut in front of another patron and began arguing and cursing, was not available.
The video begins with the trio questioning why they're being trespassed from Disney.
"How is that trespassing?" Donny Toia asks the deputy. "I paid $107 per person, how is that trespassing?"
Morgan says she was never in the U.K. pub where deputies say the incident occurred.
"We were protecting our friend, we were never in the pub," Morgan says in the video.
Morgan then props her phone up with the camera facing the deputy. She tells the deputy that the group never swore at him or anyone else.
Courtney Toia tells the deputy that she's sober, she witnessed the entire incident and she doesn't believe that her husband was the instigator.
"I'm telling you, you weren't there and I was there, and I'm sober and I was watching this event unfold, and it is ridiculous that he is the one sitting here and not the guy that was causing all of this," Courtney Toia says in the video.
The deputies then gather ID cards so they can begin filling out paperwork.
"Can I get it out? You don't have to ask me five (expletive) times. Damn dude," Donny Toia says while getting his ID from his wallet.
The group in the video insists that they've done nothing wrong. The deputy says he didn't witness the incident, he's just filling out the paperwork at Disney's request.
Morgan is on the phone during the majority of the video, but also insists that they don't deserve to be trespassed.
"First of all, we didn't curse, we didn't get drunk we didn't destruct any property," Morgan says.
Morgan hands over her phone to one of the deputies who tries to explain the situation to the person on the other line.
"Basically Alex and her friend, they started basically getting pretty mouthy," the deputy says.
Morgan interrupts.
"Mouthy? I didn't say anything cursing, I didn't say anything. Dude, you guys are lying right now. I can't imagine what black people go through," Morgan, 28, says.
After about 15 minutes, a deputy reads the terms of the trespassing warning to the group.
"I have a question, can I get my money back for the $107?" Donny Toia asks.
The deputy replies, "No."
Morgan expresses a lack of concern about the trespassing warning.
"That's fine, it'll be rescinded tomorrow," Morgan says to her friends.
The 30-minute video ends after deputies escort the group to the parking lot so they can get an Uber ride home.
Morgan apologized for the incident after news of what happened spread online.
"I want to apologize for my actions that occurred over the weekend. I will learn from this make sure it does not happen again. #liveandlearn," she posted on Twitter.
Morgan is a star player for the local Orlando Pride as well as the U.S. Womens National Soccer Team, where for the latter she has been a key contributor to squads winning both an Olympic Gold Medal and the World Cup.
Donny Toia has not issued a public statement about the incident. He was acquired as a left back for Orlando City Soccer in a trade in December.
An official from Orlando City Soccer said the team is handling the situation internally.
