Child dragged by SCAT bus Bus driver ticketed after FHP officials say he shut door No description found
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A Space Coast Area Transit bus driver has been ticketed after authorities said a child got his foot caught in the door and was dragged several feet.
Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports the incident happened about 8:35 a.m. Friday as the bus was picking up passengers from a bus stop at Clearlake Road.
Florida Highway Patrol said a Rockledge child attempted to step aboard when driver Jimmie Jenkins, 50, shut the door.
Investigators said Jenkins, of Melbourne, did not see the boy and pulled away, dragging the child about three feet. The boy suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, officials report.
Jenkins was charged with failure to use due care, FHP said.
