DELAND, Fla. – DeLand police need help catching a bold robber who held a gun to a clerk's face before running off with an untold amount of jewelry.
Security cameras caught every second of the robbery, which happened just after 3 p.m. Thursday at Sander's Jewelry at 1415 S. Woodland Blvd.
It is clear from the storefront that the owners take extra care to keep the family business safe, including having installed security alarms, bars on the doors and windows, and a doorbell controlling who comes and goes.
So when a man walked in, he looked like any other customer, but with a closer look at his right hand, you can see on the video it never leaves his pocket.
In the video, the man paces back and forth, and when the store clerk removes jewelry from the case, the casual customer pounces. He is seen raising a gun from his pocket, aiming it at the clerk, who ducks, and then the bold robber shuffles out of the store with gun and stolen loot in hand.
The man managed to escape, possibly in a silver passenger car. Police believe he has ties to St. Johns, Duval and Flagler counties.
