Lake Mack fire 95 percent contained

No homes, structures threatened by blaze

LAKE MACK, Fla. – Fire officials put out two brush fires in Lake and Volusia counties Wednesday afternoon.

Lake County officials said a brush fire burned about 40 acres near Lake Mack, but no flames spread to nearby homes or structures.

The fire is 95 percent contained, however, Division of Forestry officials will monitor the fire overnight to watch for any hot spots or flareups.

Meanwhile, a 28-acre brush fire in Volusia County that started burning at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday continued Wednesday, forcing officials to close Pioneer Trail between State Road 44 to County Road 415.

The fire is 50 percent contained as of Wednesday night, officials said. No homes are endangered.
