Cause of Rosedale Drive fire under investigation

DELTONA, Fla. – A family safely escaped a house fire in Deltona early Friday, but the blaze destroyed their home and a car, officials said.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. Friday on Rosedale Drive off Courtland Boulevard.

Fire officials said two adults and two children were in the home when the fire broke out, but they were not injured. Firefighters rescued the family’s pet cats.

Authorities said 25% of the roof caved in during the fire.

No nearby homes were damaged, and no firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Deltona, Orange City and Volusia County battled the blaze.

The Red Cross will assist the family.
