Residents encouraged to dine and shop at local businesses for #407Day

April 7 is a day dedicated to local businesses, restaurants

ORLANDO, Fla. – April 7th is known as #407Day in Orlando, when we celebrate local businesses and restaurants.

“For us, 407 is everything, you know? The community, Orlando, is everything to me. It’s more than the theme parks,” Andy Corton said.

Corton is the owner of Black Bean Deli, a restaurant he opened 21 years ago to bring authentic Cuban food to our community.

“For me, it’s always been my humble little place so I think we offer just a place for family, a place for people to hang out. It’s kind of like the third space, if you will,” Corton explained.

In effort to support restaurants and shops and their employees, Orange County, the City of Orlando, and Visit Orlando are encouraging residents to buy food from their favorite local spots on April 7.

“A few years ago, right in the middle of the pandemic, the city, the county, Visit Orlando, we were all trying to think about how can we help our local community and at that point the restaurants couldn’t really be open so we created 407 Day, 407 being our primary area code of the local region,” Chief Marketing Officer of Visit Orlando Danielle Hollander said.

And to make things even more fun, residents will have the chance to win prizes from local businesses and organizations by sharing their posts and photos on April 7 with the hashtag #407Day on social media.

Winners can get tickets to attractions like Wild Florida and WonderWorks Orlando and an opportunity to dine at restaurants like AVA MediterrAegean, Taverna Opa, Tapa Toro Tapas Bar & Paella Pit, Orlando Cat Cafe, Deep blu Seafood Grille, and The Glass Knife.
