BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – The first images have been released of what the inside of a giant balloon looks like that will soon take people to the edge of space.

Space Perspective, the company that plans to offer balloon rides to space from Kennedy Space Center, shared some images Tuesday morning of the inside of the capsule paying customers will be enjoying as they make the trek to space.

Unlike other space-tourism companies, Space Perspective isn’t relying on rockets to send passengers to space. Instead, it will use a balloon to carry its roomy pressurized “Spaceship Neptune” capsule up to 100,000 feet before gently coming back down to Earth and splashing down in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Explorers will have unparalleled views from the 360-degree panoramic windows - the largest-ever flown to space. The main surfaces are dark, soft and tactile in order to enhance the feeling of coziness in the capsule, while at the same time reducing reflection and glare in the windows. Even the luxurious restroom features a large window, so Space Explorers never miss the incredible view,” the website describes.

Space Perspective also said passengers will have access to Wi-Fi inside the capsule.

Flown by a pilot, Spaceship Neptune will carry eight passengers to the edge of space and back in a pressurized capsule for up to two hours before the two hour descent. Passengers will not experience weightlessness.

Each ticket costs $125,000 for a trip expected to last about six hours with about two hours at the 100,000-foot mark.
