ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was arrested in August after Ocoee police said she tried to fraudulently rent out rooms in Ocoee properties.
On Aug. 12, Ocoee police said they were called to 1242 Russell Drive after 18-year-old Selena Henningham was found claiming to live in the home while a locksmith hired by the property manager was trying to change the locks.

According to police, Henningham did not own the property. Police then told Henningham she was not supposed to be there, and if she didn’t leave, an ejection would be filed, police said.
In response, Henningham told police that she was renting the home from a person named “Jane” and had given “Jane” a deposit of $5,000.
Police said that on Aug. 14, they made contact with a man who told them he had rented a room in a home at 1242 Russell Drive that police said was supposed to be vacant.
According to police, the man said he met a person named “Jane” on an app called Roomie who had advertised a room for rent. Police said the man told them he had paid “Jane” $400 to rent a room in the home through the CashApp payment app.
On Aug. 23, officers again responded to the property on Russell Drive after another man claimed to have just moved into the home, police said.
According to the affidavit, this man told police he had rented a room from a person named “Jane Peters” and paid her a $700 deposit on CashApp.
Both men told police they had met “Jane” in person, and based on their descriptions of her, police determined her to be Henningham, an affidavit shows.
On Aug. 30, Henningham was arrested. She faces charges of scheming to defraud and petit theft.
Police stated Wednesday that Henningham is in the process of being evicted out of one of the homes she was living in under false pretenses.
Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact the Ocoee Police Department at (407) 905-3161.
