ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida gas prices are set to increase 25 cents per gallon as the state’s tax holiday comes to an end Tuesday.
“That’s a big jump. That would be a big jump at home as well, but that’s a big jump for sure,” said Dawn Pinder, a driver visiting from Bahamas.
According to AAA, the tax holiday gave a 25-cent discount to drivers through October.

“While Halloween is traditionally a time for filling bags with candy, drivers may also want to fill their gas tank to take advantage of current prices at the pump,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a news release. “Pump prices will likely rise 25 cents overnight, when the state gas tax expires on Tuesday morning.”
“That’s crazy. That’s going to definitely impact my budget at home,” said Jordan Rodriquez, who works construction in Orlando. “It’s horrible because for us that work in construction, have to drive a lot, it’s a big cost for the company.”
The tax holiday went into effect on Oct. 1, bringing prices down for Florida drivers. However, the discount didn’t last long when prices jumped as OPEC announced plans to cut production.
The average price per gallon in Florida is $3.29 as of Sunday.
