Tropical Storm Nicole prompts closures across Central Florida

County-by-county list of closures

ORLANDO, Fla. – As Tropical Storm Nicole gets closer to Central Florida, impending weather conditions have prompted closures of airports, government buildings and beaches across the region.

Here’s the county-by-county list of the latest.

ORANGE COUNTY

Orlando International Airport

  • OIA announced that they made the decision to cease commercial operations at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 until “circumstances permit operations resume”.

City of Winter Park

  • City Hall and all administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 10, and pending storm conditions, will reopen Friday, Nov. 11.
  • The City Commission meeting for Wednesday, Nov. 9, is still scheduled, however, the agenda has been modified and truncated.
  • The City Commission work session scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10, is cancelled.
  • The Former Public Library Property Proposed Plans Public Meeting scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m.
  • Waste Pro – There will not be garbage or recycling pickup Thursday, Nov. 10, but will be rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12.
  • All city parks and facilities will be closed effective 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Eatonville

  • Town hall will be closed starting Wednesday at 2 p.m., and will be closed through Friday Nov. 11.

Funspot

  • Fun Spot Orlando and Kissimmee will be closing at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 and expect to reopen tomorrow, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

The Wheel at ICON Park, Carousel on The Promenade

  • The Wheel at ICON Park will be closed starting at 3 p.m. Nov. 9 and will remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • The Carousel on the Promenade will be closed Nov. 9 to 10.

SeaWorld

  • Both Aquatica Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 10.

DISNEY – Walt Disney World Resort theme parks will reopen in a phased approach

Magic Kingdom

  • Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. Last dining reservations for Be Our Guest, Liberty Tree Tavern, Diamond Horseshoe and Cinderella’s Royal Table will be at 6 p.m., and last dining for all other dining reservations will be at 6:30 p.m.
  • Scheduled to reopen noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is scheduled for 7 p.m. to midnight.)

Epcot

  • Closing Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. Last dining reservations for Monsieur Paul, Space 220 Restaurant, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and Garden Grill Restaurant will be at 6 p.m., and last dining for all other dining reservations will be at 6:30 p.m.
  • Scheduled to reopen 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10

Hollywood Studios

  • Closing Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. with last dining reservations at 6 p.m.
  • Scheduled to reopen 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 (Fantasmic! will not be presented on Thursday, November 10.)

Animal Kingdom

  • Closing Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m. with last dining reservations at 5 p.m.
  • Scheduled to reopen 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10

Water Parks and Mini Golf

  • Will close early Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will remain closed Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will remain closed Thursday, Nov. 10.

UNIVERSAL

Volcano Bay

  • Currently Closed

Universal Orlando Resort (includes Universal Studios Florida & Islands of Adventure) and CityWalk

  • Will close early on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m.

SEMINOLE COUNTY

Orlando Sanford International Airport

  • Passenger terminal will be closing Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. For more info on flights, contact your airline. The airport asks that you do not come to the airport during this time. Orlando-Sanford International is not an authorized shelter.

City of Oviedo

  • City offices will be closed starting Wednesday, Nov. 9 at noon and will reopen Monday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m.

Seminole County Parks

  • Staffed parks will close Wednesday, Nov. 9 an noon.
  • Trails, trailheads and unstaffed parks will close Tuesday, Nov. 8 at sunset.

Sanford SBA Business Recovery Center

  • Due to Tropical Storm Nicole, The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is closing its Business Recovery Centers in Florida, including its Sanford location from Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 13. The Centers will reopen on Monday, Nov. 14 and resume their normal operating hours.

Seminole County Public Library

  • Announced all locations will close at Wednesday, Nov. 9 at noon through end of day on Friday, Nov. Nov. 11.

Waste Management

  • WM will suspend collection service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • Wednesday yard waste customers not serviced by 2 p.m. should remove their material/containers curbside and properly secure. WM will return for yard waste collection service the following Wednesday. Thursday customers will be serviced on their next regularly scheduled collection day.

BREVARD COUNTY

Brevard County courthouses

  • Will be closed for court proceedings Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.

Melbourne Orlando International Airport

  • MLB will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9. For flight info and updates, the airport asks that you contact your airline. As a reminder, the airport is not a designated shelter location.

Waste Management

  • Will suspend collection service mid-morning on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.

Palm Bay

  • City Facilities will be closed starting Nov. 9 and will remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10. City facilities are scheduled to be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 in observance of Veterans Day.

Kennedy Space Center

  • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will close Wednesday, Nov. 9, Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 11 for the safety of guests and crewmembers. Guests with reservations are being contacted.

Health First

  • All medical offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and remain closed through Thursday, Nov. 10.

City of Satellite Beach

  • City facilities and recreation facilities will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • These Wednesday Nov. 9th public meetings have been cancelled: The Planning Advisory Board (recheduled to Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at City Hall) and The Adopt-A-Canal Workshop (has been rescheduled to Nov. 15 at the Civic Center)

FLAGLER COUNTY

Flagler County Parks and Recreation

  • Flagler County parks will be closed until further notice due to flooding from Hurricane Nicole. These parks include:
    • Herschel King Park
    • Bings Landing
    • Moody Boat Ramp
    • Bull Creek Fish Camp
    • Russell Landing
    • Shell Bluff
    • Princess Place Preserve

City of Flagler Beach

  • All administrative offices will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • There will be no recycling pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and no trash pick-up on Thursday, Nov.10.
  • The Regular City Commission meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10 has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the City of Flagler Beach Commission Chambers.

Elections Office

  • Elections Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 11. Voters who wish to submit documents or paperwork supporting their eligibility to cast a mail ballot or provisional ballot are welcome to use the drop box outside of our entrance on Thursday or Friday at:

VOLUSIA COUNTY

City of DeLand

  • City offices will be closed starting at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Thursday, Nov. 10.

Bridges

  • Bridges that cross the Intracoastal Waterway will be closed to eastbound traffic when sustained winds reach 39 mph. When the curfew begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, the bridges will be closed in both directions.

City of Edgewater

  • City offices will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10. Depending on weather conditions and potential damage, the current plan is to reopen City offices on Friday, Nov. 11. Any utility account shut offs scheduled for the week of Nov. 7, 2022 will be postponed until the week of Nov. 14.

City of Port Orange

  • Administrative Offices will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10.

Daytona Beach International Airport

  • The airport terminal building and airfield will close at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. All flights after this time are canceled, except for government, emergency, and humanitarian aircraft.
  • The airport is scheduled to reopen at 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Passengers should check with their airlines for updates to flight schedules.

Volusia County Offices

  • Volusia County offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 10, and will remain closed on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

OSCEOLA COUNTY

City of Kissimmee

  • The administrative offices of all city departments will be closed on Thursday, Nov, 10 and will tentatively reopen on Monday, Nov. 14. The offices were already scheduled to be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
  • Solid waste collection has been suspended for Thursday, Nov. 10 and no makeup day will occur. Tentatively, collection will resume on Friday, Nov. 11.
  • All Parks & Recreation afterschool programs will be canceled for Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 10.

Osceola County Offices

  • Administrative offices for the county and both cities will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and remained closed until Monday, Nov. 14, including Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Gatorland

  • Gatorland will be closed Thursday, Nov. 10 and expects to reopen Friday, Nov. 11 for the regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LAKE COUNTY

Lake County Library - The following Lake County Branch Libraries will close early at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and will remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 10, due to Tropical Storm Nicole:

  • Astor County Library
  • Cagan Crossings Community Library (Four Corners)
  • East Lake Mini Library (Sorrento)
  • Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library (Groveland)
  • Paisley County Library
  • Cooper Memorial Library (Clermont) will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, with limited services, and will remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • Tavares Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and will remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 10.
  • All Lake County Libraries will remain closed on Friday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.
