Man dead after being shot in Orlando, police say

Shooting occurred in 6600 block of S Semoran Blvd.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was shot Sunday morning at a shopping plaza in Orlando and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

The shooting occurred around 9:49 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Semoran Blvd. “in the shopping plaza area,” police said in a statement.

Responding officers located a man, later identified as 35-year-old Rashaad Antonio Battle, who had been shot and began life-saving measures before he was taken to a hospital, the statement reads.

An “altercation” is what led to the man’s fatal shooting, as police said was indicated in a preliminary investigation.

All parties were accounted for and were collaborating with authorities, police said.
