Destiny Johnson, 25, faces charges of attempted murder and arson

Destiny Johnson, 25 (Miami-Dade Police Department)

MIAMI, Fla. – A Florida woman was arrested last month after she poured gasoline in her Tinder date’s car, causing both him and the vehicle to catch fire, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

In an arrest affidavit, police said the woman — identified as Destiny Johnson, 25 — met up with her Tinder date at a hotel in Miami on Nov. 25.

After the date arrived, Johnson approached his car while carrying a 1-gallon water jug and opened the date’s front passenger door, the affidavit shows.

Johnson then reportedly told the date she needed money to fix her vehicle, and he responded that he didn’t appreciate her asking him to meet at the hotel without explaining she only wanted money, investigators said.

Despite that, the date offered her the $60 cash he had on him at that moment, according to the affidavit.

However, Johnson allegedly became hostile and yelled at the date before pouring apparent gasoline from the water jug inside her date’s car, police said.

While the date tried to push the jug out of the vehicle, he caused even more fluid to spill inside the vehicle and on himself, police added.

According to detectives, Johnson then produced a lighter and ignited the fluid, setting fire to herself, her date and the vehicle.

The date then began rolling on the ground to extinguish the flames on himself, and his vehicle soon became fully engulfed in fire, investigators reported.

Police said he then took out a firearm and pointed it at Johnson out of fear she would keep trying to set him on fire, though Johnson instead fled from the scene.

Johnson was later located, having suffered burns and stating she had blown up a vehicle, police said.

She was taken into custody and faces charges of battery, attempted murder and first-degree arson. She is held on bond of $30,000.
