ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Osceola County man is suing the Reedy Creek Improvement District following an elevator ride at the Disney Springs Orange Parking Garage last year, according to court records filed on Thursday.

The lawsuit says that the man — Michael Johnson — took the elevator in July 2022 during a trip to Disney Springs with his daughter.

However, the elevator dropped several feet “suddenly and without warning, then stopping abruptly, forcefully shaking, and dropping again” before rising to the garage’s fifth floor, the lawsuit reads.

As a result, the lawsuit claims that Johnson suffered injuries, permanent scarring and “mental anguish.”

Johnson accuses the district of failing to properly maintain the elevator to prevent this sort of incident.

Due to this, Johnson is seeking over $50,000 in damages, the lawsuit shows.
