PALM COAST, Fla. – After this weekend’s rain, people in Palm Coast are still dealing with major flooding issues from houses nearby they said are built too high, causing water to pool in their yards.
Palm Coast residents continued to share their frustrations with recent flooding issues they said are caused by new development at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
“I don’t know why building permits are being pushed through the city at this point,” said one resident.
“I am being treated like I don’t exist by my city councilors,” said Carole Brasfield.

Dara Knotts has also been dealing with these flooding issues. News 6 spoke to Knotts weeks ago about the problem — one that she said isn’t getting any better.
“This was all completely covered in water,” Knotts said. “Yeah it is it goes all the way around and if we get more and more it just goes right up in our dining room area.”
Knotts told us she’s tried several solutions to make this situation better, including putting their shed on cinderblocks or laying down new sod to try and soak the water which hasn’t done the trick.
“We try to fix our backyard to what we want and we just can’t now,” Knotts said. “It’s destroyed. It’s destroying our property, it’s destroying everyone’s property with these new builds.”
News 6 reached out to the City of Palm Coast to see if the newly created task force to address the issue had any plans to fix the flooding. In a statement, the city said:
