Winning $1M lottery ticket sold in The Villages

Lady Lake man bought ticket at Winn-Dixie on Old Camp Road

THE VILLAGES, Fla. – A Lake County man recently won a $1 million prize from a Florida Lottery scratch-off game that he bought in The Villages.

Andrew Smith, 55, of Lady Lake, purchased the winning ticket from a Winn-Dixie located at 820 Old Camp Road.

The game that Smith played — $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR — began in February, carries overall odds of 1-in-4.50 to win and features two top prizes of $1 million per year for life, as well as 234 $1 million prizes, according to the Florida Lottery.

Smith claimed the prize on Thursday and chose to part with a lump sum of $640,000, a news release states. The retailer will reportedly get a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
