Archange Dessin, 23, faces charges of burglary and loitering

Archange Dessin, 23 (Seminole County Jail)

SANFORD, Fla. – A burglary suspect is accused of attacking a Sanford officer during an arrest on New Year’s Day, according to the police department.

In an arrest report, police said the officer responded to a home along West 20th Street around 11:35 p.m. after receiving a call about a “suspicious vehicle” behind the home.

Upon arrival, the officer found an Orlando man — identified as 23-year-old Archange Dessin — who was trying to get into the back of the home.

According to the report, Dessin initially refused to identify himself to the officer, saying that he was trying to get into the home to “hang out with his girlfriend’s friend.”

“(He) was not able to dispel my alarm as to why he was attempting to enter the back of the residence at (11:40 p.m.),” the report reads. “His actions are not consistent with normal behavior.”

After being told that he was being detained, Dessin fled from the scene, though the officer was able to catch up to Dessin and bring him to the ground, investigators said.

However, Dessin began fighting the officer while on the ground, grabbing the officer’s genitals and squeezing, the report shows.

As a result, the officer punched Dessin’s head four times, causing him to release the officer’s genitals, police said.

The report states that Dessin continued struggling with the officer until backup arrived, and he was ultimately taken into custody.

Afterward, police said they found a purse that Dessin had been carrying, which contained a Florida’s driver’s license, a dental health card and several bank cards.

None of those items belonged to Dessin, though, police explained.

The home’s resident also told police that he didn’t know Dessin, and Dessin had tried to get into his home without permission, according to the report.

Dessin faces charges of fraud, aggravated battery, burglary, loitering and violently resisting an officer. On those charges, he is held on bond of $65,763.
