Man accused of harassing Tavares High School student at park

Teen’s mother warns parents, other students to remain alert

TAVARES, Fla. – On Sunday, a 10th-grade Tavares High School student was at Wooton Park when a man reportedly touched her.

The girl’s mother said the man was wearing black.

He allegedly approached the teen and told her she was beautiful before putting his hand on her.

The man also reportedly told her that he comes to the park every Sunday and asked to meet up.

The girl became uncomfortable and moved to a different area, but the man followed her.

The teen then ran to the park bathroom, where she hid until he left.

Once he was gone, she ran to safety.

The teen’s mother said that plenty of other students also come to Wooton Park.

She’s warning parents and students to stay alert.

The mother filed a report with the Tavares Police Department and is waiting for an update from detectives.
