Man shot in head in Holly Hill walks to friend’s home for help

Christopher Hastings, 33, arrested on murder charge

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A man shot in the head after an argument Wednesday morning in Holly Hill walked to a friend’s home for help, according to police.

Christopher Hastings, 33, faces charges after investigators said he shot a 44-year-old man, according to Holly Hill police.

The Holly Hill Police Department said the shooting was reported at 2:42 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Flomich Avenue.

Police said Hastings was caught inside a car in the 300 block of Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach, about eight minutes after the 911 call was placed. The Daytona Beach Police Department and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search for Hastings, investigators said.

Police said the gun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered by law enforcement officers.

The victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said.

Hastings faces an attempted second-degree murder charge and was taken to the Volusia County jail.

He was denied bond Thursday when he appeared in court for a first appearance.
