SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A student athlete is receiving national recognition for his work in the community and for helping others.
David Hull is a junior basketball and lacrosse player at Trinity Preparatory School and was surprised Wednesday with the Making A Difference On AND Off The Field award.
“He’s just a wonderful representative of our school,” Director of Athletics Colin Sullivan said. “He is a leader on and off the field.”
The award was presented in front of peers, coaches, teachers, school leaders and David’s parents.
“We’re so blessed to be able to have a kid who’s that good and who just has a big heart and does the right things,” David’s father Bill Hull said.

David was honored for the volunteer work and youth mentoring he does throughout the community.
“I was in 9th grade, I got injured and I helped coach a flag football team,” David Hull said. “It was something so small, but seeing all these middle schoolers look up to me, it was big.”
January marks the 97th consecutive month of honors and surprises from the Making A Difference On AND Off The Field campaign, presented by Buddy’s HELPERS.
David was surprised with two tickets to see a local sporting event — Orlando Magic, Orlando City, Tampa Bay Lightning or Tampa Bay Bucs — along with a check for his favorite local community-based charity.
David said he has a couple charities to choose from. Meanwhile, he said the work off the field will continue so he can be an influence to anyone he comes across.
“Someone is always watching, so it’s important set the best example you can,” he said.
