ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two men were arrested after being caught driving at speeds of 199 mph, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they arrested Luis Alejandro Lozano-Figueroa, 20, and Mario Alberto Paz-Gil, 19, early Sunday morning.
In a post on social media, investigators said the two men were caught engaging in unlawful and dangerous street racing that eventually led them to being arrested along the Florida Turnpike.
According to an arrest report, Orange County deputies received calls around 1:10 a.m. from residents complaining of drivers illegally street racing in the area of Lake Mary Jane Road and Moss Park Road. Deputies said they observed two vehicles involved in illegal street racing activities that eventually moved southbound on the Florida Turnpike.
Investigators determined that Lozano-Figueroa was the driver of the red Chevrolet Camaro, and Paz-Gil and a 16-year-old male were passengers. Deputies said at one time they observed the Chevrolet Camaro reaching speeds of 199 mph in a posted 70 mph zone. Both men were arrested and taken to the Osceola County Jail. The 16-year-old was released to a parent on scene.
Deputies said they found a camera inside the car that they believe was used to capture videos for Luis’ Instagram.
The vehicle was registered to Lozano-Figueroa’s father, and it was released to him on scene, the report said.
“The recent arrest serves as a stark reminder that such behavior will not be tolerated, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining public safety on the roads,” deputies said in the post.

Street racing has been a consistent issue for residents in Central Florida. Last year, troopers told News 6 that they had noticed an uptick in the state. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced a crackdown on street racing, saying that last year alone, they made 157 arrests, issued 1,290 citations and seized 54 vehicles.
Early last year, a 16-year-old was cited after he was clocked driving 132 mph down one stretch of I-4 in Orange County.
It’s not clear if the driver of the second vehicle was ever caught.
