MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Nighttime views of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex are typically reserved for late-night rocket launches.

On Friday night, however, guests can explore attractions for an after-hours event called “Kennedy Under the Stars.”

“It’s really an opportunity for people to see the other side of the Visitor Complex that you don’t get to see very often,” spokeswoman Rebecca Burgman told News 6.

From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., guests will have the unique opportunity to explore all main campus attractions, including iconic features like Space Shuttle Atlantis, Shuttle Launch Experience, Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex, and Spaceport KSC.

“We’ll have shorter lines, you won’t have as many guests — it’s kind of an exclusive opportunity to really see and do most of our attractions after dark,” Burgman said.

The complex said the venue will come alive with the colors of the cosmos through glow-in-the-dark elements, featuring a DJ-led techno party, cosmic glow miniature golf, vibrant chalk art by local artists and bar and lounge areas illuminated with an array of colors.

Adding to the stellar atmosphere, guests will have the chance to spend their Friday night in the company of Veteran NASA astronauts Chris Ferguson and Nicole Stott. The event also features select visitor complex restaurants and retail stores, offering guests a chance to savor signature cocktails crafted during this year’s Taste of Space events, along with delightful food and wine available for an additional charge.

“We haven’t really hosted something like this for guests, so it is unique in that way to be here after hours,” Burgman said.

For annual passholders attending the event, there are added perks, including discounts on food and a 30% savings on retail items. Tickets for “Kennedy Under the Stars” are priced at $65, plus tax per person, with a special rate of $55, plus tax for annual passholders. Complimentary parking is provided for all attendees.

Tickets grant entry to the event only and does not include the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour or Apollo/Saturn V Center. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex stressed that costume masks concealing the face and props resembling weapons are prohibited for security reasons.

Tickets are available for purchase on the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex website.
