The sheriff’s office said on Thursday that the girl spoke with a deputy in October and said “Roldan had been in a relationship that began when she was 12 years old, and they had engaged in sexual activity.”
The girl told the deputy about multiple incidents in which she was battered and molested by Roldan, a news release said. Sheriff’s officials said she also reported three times he kept her from her parents after running away from home.
A detective then interviewed Roldan on Jan. 17 and he “admitted to the sexual activity with the juvenile victim and provided accounts that corroborated the victim’s recollection of the incidents,” the sheriff’s office said.
Roldan was asked if his cellphone contained child porn images and he admitted another phone he had held images of the victim, deputies said. He then gave his phone to the detective and when he was told it would be kept for review, Roldan attacked the detective and took his phone back to try and change the settings, the sheriff’s office said.
Both cellphones had multiple child pornographic images “as well as a variety of incriminating messages, in which he demanded sexually explicit content from the victim and transmitted explicit content to her,” according to sheriff’s officials.
Roldan faces multiple charges, including lewd or lascivious molestation on a child older than 12 but less than 18, lewd or lascivious battery on a child older than 12 but less than 18, interfering with child custody and possession and production of child porn.
He is facing the charges as an adult and was booked into the Marion County jail.
