VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old man faces charges after deputies said he stole an Amazon delivery van in Ormond Beach before being arrested more than 20 miles away.
Deputies said Matthew Darwin Houghtaling, 35, stole the van from a driver in Ormond Beach on Sunday.

According to an arrest affidavit, the Amazon driver said the suspect entered his delivery van and started the ignition. The driver was unable to stop Houghtaling as he drove the van away.
Deputies said an Amazon supervisor was able to track the vehicle and view camera footage in real time as Houghtaling drove away, noting that the suspect “t appeared to be nodding off while driving.”
Houghtaling stopped at the Circle K gas station in Pierson near State Road 40 and U.S. 17 and was taken into custody, according to the affidavit.
Houghtaling also had around 17 grams of methamphetamine on him at the time of his arrest, deputies said.

He faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of cannabis not more than 20 grams, according to the affidavit.
