KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Osceola County commissioners will discuss adding more school zone cameras to tackle speeders and bumping fines up too.
The cameras, which are similar to red light cameras, have already been installed at 15 schools around the county. Anyone going 11 miles over the limit will get fined $100.

The discussion will happen at the regular commission meeting, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the county administration building in Kissimmee.
The county first approved the cameras in December. A study conducted by transportation officials last year found speeding a problem in many school zones, with more than two out of three drivers violating the school zone speed limit during one elementary school that was monitored.
The measure the county commissioners will discuss Monday is an amendment to the deal the county reached with a third-party company, Verra Mobility, to administer the cameras. Documents on the Osceola County website do not list which schools would get the new cameras.
Cameras like these have been installed across Central Florida in areas like Eustis, Palm Bay and Ocoee.
