ORLANDO, Fla. – The family of a 5-year-old girl killed in a hit-and-run crash nearly five months ago is still searching for answers.
It’s been nearly five months since 5-year-old Aiyanna McCoy was killed in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Ace Road.
Her family and police are still looking for answers as to who may have been responsible.
“It is such a heavy loss,” said Aiyanna McCoy’s father, Billy McCoy. “These last five months have been horrible, so we would really like to come to a conclusion.”

McCoy hopes someone who knows anything about the crash will say something.
“It’s just a frustrating time, you know, dealing with it and we try to do the best we can,” McCoy said. “We can only do so much.”
Orlando Police said they responded to a two-car crash around 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Investigators said Aiyanna, along with four others, were inside a Nissan Pathfinder when they were hit by a silver Mercedes.
“That’s why we need help from the public, we need help from our peers and most importantly we need help from the police station so we can come to a closure,” McCoy said.
News 6 obtained a copy of a report indicating police had found the silver Mercedes believed to be involved in the crash about 250 feet away from the Pathfinder.
The report said police were able to track down who the vehicle was registered to, but the owner said she did not know where her car was and filled out a Stolen Vehicle Affidavit.
McCoy said grieving Aiyanna and focusing on an investigation has been difficult.
“No one can never be prepared for the loss of a child, you know, especially as young as five, but such precious souls, so innocent, you know, she had a whole life ahead of her,” McCoy said. “So if anybody got any information, you know, think about if it was a kid, it was a friend of yours. So everyone has felt the impact of it around the city. You know, it rained for seven days after that. So it was it was heavy.”
At last check, there was a $5,000 reward for information about the crash. News 6 also reached out to the OPD for an update on the investigation, so far we have not heard back.
