Diggity dog! Good boy discovers military ordinance in Florida

Officials believe munition had been buried for long time

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s not unusual for a dog to dig in the backyard, but a good boy in Florida unearthed something that prompted a call to the bomb squad.

A dog in Jacksonville dug up a piece of unexploded military ordinance!

Its owner first got curious after seeing something sticking out of the ground, so the man started pulling it out before he realized what it was.

The bomb squad evacuated neighbors before removing the device.

“I wasn’t scared because I’ve been around people who have found artifacts in the land and stuff like that. To me, it was interesting to watch. They did their thing and they were out of here in minutes,” neighbor Carla Smith said.

Due to the level of decay, officials believed the bomb had been buried in the ground for a long time.
