ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Classroom Teachers Association on Tuesday approved the district’s “historic” 9% raise for this school year, according to the school district.
Orange County Public Schools said the raise will be paid retroactively to instructional personnel to the beginning of the school year.
“It is exciting to see our teachers decisively voted to ratify their contract,” Superintendent Maria Vazquez said in a release. “With this vote, our hard-working teachers have guaranteed their well-deserved raises.”
During a meeting last month, the district and the teachers’ union agreed on a $4.4 million premium discount for health insurance for OCCTA bargaining employees.

The district said the salary increases and retroactive pay will be in April 10 paychecks and “retention supplement differentials will be paid April 24; and all other applicable supplements will be paid June 5.”
According to the release, 99.5% of the union, 7,047 teachers, voted “yes” for the raise.
