DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Davenport Police Department is asking the public for help locating a man accused of attempting to kill his cousin on Thursday.
Douglas Kidd, 47, stabbed his cousin more than 15 times around 1 p.m. at a home in the Highland Meadows neighborhood before running away, the department said in a news release.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was in critical condition at last check. The chief said investigators were able to recover a knife believed to be used in the attack. He said the victim had injuries to the back, chest, face and arms.
“I will say that it is, it’s only a miracle that this lady is alive,” Davenport police Chief Steve Parker said during a news conference. “She was able to eventually get from the house and go to a neighbor’s house and seek refuge and seek assistance, which is where we found her.”
Parker said Kidd is known to drive a black Chrysler 300 with the Florida tag VI9WB.
“At this point, we have no idea where he’s at. And that’s why we’re asking for the public’s help,” he said.
Parker said the suspect has been living with his cousin for about a year and the victim’s husband said there have not been any issues in the home that would lead him to believe Kidd would do something “in this nature.”
Detectives had no information about a motive in the stabbing at the time of this report, the department said.
“This was a horrific attack and we will go to great lengths to get this dangerous individual off the streets,” Parker said in a statement. “We are praying for the victim’s recovery following this ordeal.”
Parker said Kidd should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information about the investigation or Kidd’s whereabouts is urged to contact Davenport police at 863-419-3307, or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 888-400-8477 to remain anonymous.
