Seminole High School's girls water polo win state championship

Team went undefeated in the season

SANFORD, Fla. – You can call them the undefeated Lady Noles!

Seminole High School’s girl’s water polo team is celebrating their biggest accomplishment yet, becoming this year’s Florida High School Athletic Association water polo state champions.

“I think that’s what’s helped us a lot during the season is just how well we all got along and how we play as one big team as opposed to individual people trying to all play together,” Cassidy Hardin said.

Hardin, who is a senior and captain of her team, said the competition took place in South Florida over the weekend.

They beat West Orange High School’s girls water polo team 10 to 6.

The Lady Noles finished the season with a 31 to 0-record.

“It does take a lot of work, we practice a lot it wasn’t really a goal to stay undefeated but as the season kept progressing and as we kept winning then, there was no doubt in my mind that we were going to be state champion(s),” she said.

Hardin said her team practiced five days a week and even six days leading up to the competition.

“I may be a senior but most of our team has juniors, our front runners are sophomores, so being a young team, we all get along pretty well. These are my sisters, so we are all one big family we all get along. We practice. We know how to work hard,” Hardin said.

Hardin is graduating from Seminole High School in a few weeks and said the biggest lesson learned this year is to never give up.

“No matter what’s happening if you just keep working hard and you work towards your goal it’s easily achievable,” she said.

The city of Sanford will honor the team for their win with an event Monday at 7 p.m.
