MOUNT DORA, Fla. – The city of Mount Dora has made its acting city manager permanent, months after the previous city manager resigned amid allegations of workplace favoritism and retaliation.
Vince Sandersfeld’s contract was unanimously approved by the city council on Tuesday. Before Sandersfeld was acting city manager, he was the city’s planning director.

The city manager job is important in Mount Dora because they handle day-to-day operations, oversee department heads, and handle the budget.
Last year the city council paid a third-party law firm to conduct an audit amid allegations that the previous city manager, Patrick Comiskey, was limiting promotions and purposely leaving dozens of positions open, including the police chief position. The city has been operating with an interim police chief since Brett Meade resigned in 2022.
Mayor Crissy Stile said she had heard several complaints about Comiskey, and said his actions contributed to an alarming number of employees leaving the city.
The audit led to Comiskey’s suspension in January and Sandersfeld’s appointment as acting city manager.
Comiskey resigned in February ahead of a special meeting to discuss his fate.
“Mr. Vince Sandersfeld’s appointment as our new City Manager marks an exciting chapter for Mount Dora. His experience, dedication, and vision will undoubtedly propel our city forward. We look forward to working closely with Vince to continue building a thriving and inclusive community for all residents,” said Stile in a news release.
