OVIEDO, Fla. – A new disc golf course has opened at a park in Oviedo, according to the city.
Work was completed April 26 on an 18-hole disc golf course at River Woods Park, what the city said in a statement has taken months of planning and engineering to accomplish.

The course is free to use and is said to wind through the park’s beautiful natural landscape in the heart of the Alafaya Woods subdivision along McCully Court.
“It is a peaceful, quiet park that allows disc golfers convenience and serenity to play. River Woods Park is also open to the public to explore nature with open and free parking,” the statement reads.

According to the city, the project was part of a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Florida Communities Trust Management Plan and revisions were made to the park in 2020 to add the course, previously located in Shane Kelly Park.
Oviedo in 2021 said it executed a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program grant agreement for $50,000 in non-city matching dollars which included the disc golf course along with a new picnic facility, an interpretive kiosk, complete landscaping and a grant acknowledgement sign.
