ORLANDO, Fla. – “Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning,” that’s where you’ll find “Peter Pan” at the Dr. Phillips Center.
The Broadway musical based on J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play is being brought back to life and it’s being reimagined in a new way.
The show for all ages has been around for 70 years.

It follows the adventures of a young boy who refuses to grow up. Peter Pan and his fairy sidekick, Tinker Bell, leave the magical “Neverland” and return to the real world, where they meet Wendy, Michael, and John Darling. The kids go with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell to see Neverland, where they go on more adventures, meet the “Lost Boys” and defeat the evil pirate, Captain Hook.
17-year-old Nolan Almeida plays Peter Pan. Cody Garcia plays Captain Hook. They both explained that learning how to fly and fight was the first things they did when training for the show.
“At the very start of this, I was a little afraid of heights, which I didn’t tell them. Pretty quickly, that sort of faded, because once you’re in the air, there’s two guys who fly me off-stage and they do up and down and they’re really great. I trust them a lot. I think that’s one of the things is that you have to trust people, because literally, my life depends on them. I’m glad that there are two people that I trust very much,” said Almeida.
“We have a very nice team that does specifically fighting and specifically flying and they all work together,” said Garcia.
“I remember there was one time, I was like holding a hook, and like sword fighting with this kid who’s flying around me, I was like, ‘What is going on?’ That was fun, that was a fun day,” Garcia joked.
The show teaches the message of embracing the child in all of us, but also it’s okay to grow up and that’s part of the human experience.
Some popular songs from the musical include “I’m Flying”, “I Gotta Crow”, “I Won’t Grow Up” and “Neverland.”
