ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A woman trying to cross railroad tracks late Tuesday in Brevard County was fatally struck by a Brightline train, according to the sheriff’s office.
The fatal collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Ansin Road in unincorporated Rockledge, a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said in a statement.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
Dispatcher radio calls reported that the train was traveling 110 mph when the crash occurred.
An investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
