On Monday, Trooper Steve got the chance to see what the team does every day when it comes to rescue calls every day.

The Orlando Health Air Care team began in 1984 and completed their first patient flight in November that same year. The program then upgraded their helicopter to a BK-117 until 2008.

In 2015, the team transitioned to EC-135 helicopters. The helicopter carries a single pilot along with a nurse and paramedic.

According to Orlando Health, the Air Care Team has flown over 40,000 patients over the last four decades.

May 19-25 marks National EMS week which honors EMTs and paramedics who save lives across the country every day.
