WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Modern Widows Club is marking 10 years of supporting and advocating for widows this week. There’s a symposium this Friday in Winter Park featuring wellness workshops and speakers geared toward guiding widows out of their grief to rebuild and thrive.
Carolyn Moor, the founder of Modern Widows Club, started the organization to help support a growing need in the community.
“That’s really what June 23rd, International Women’s Day, is why the U.N. actually ratified this day in 2011. Is to start talking about widow awareness and actions we can all take in order to serve the 14 million widowed women in this country. Every day in the U.S. 2,800 women become widowed and yet there’s so little talk about this as a women’s health issue,” Moor said.
On Sept. 28, Modern Widows Club will host a virtual women’s empowerment event.
