ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Museum of Art will offer free admission next week as part of its Access for All initiative.

The Orlando Museum of Art, in partnership with the Art Bridges Foundation, provides an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to experience the museum free of cost on the third Thursday of each month. This program is part of a three-year funding project to make art and museums more accessible to people across the country, according to the press release.

The next event is on Thursday, June 20.

“We hold our Access for All events on a regular monthly schedule to demonstrate our commitment to making art accessible to everyone, regardless of status or background,” Cathryn Mattson, CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art, said in a release. “Our mission is to create a space where the arts can be universally enjoyed and experienced. We are grateful to have a partner in the Art Bridges Foundation to provide the opportunity for all individuals and families to engage with our exhibitions and programs.”

The museum will provide guided tours and live demonstrations to provide guests with opportunities to experience art in a variety of ways. Along with the museum’s signature art exhibitions, the event will also showcase the Florida Prize Contemporary Art, which features the intricate works of 10 local artists and will be on display until Aug. 25.

There will be additional programming during this month’s Access for All initiative, including hands-on activities from the Orlando Science Center for students and families starting at 4 p.m. These interactive sessions will consist of themes revolving around Earth, space and science fiction.

In collaboration with Enzian Theater, the Orlando Museum of Art will also be hosting “La CinOMAthéque” and providing a free screening of “La Jetée.” The showing of the 1962 science-fiction film, directed by Chris Marker, will be preceded by guest speaker Jimmy Schaus, the medical director at Student Health Services at the University of Central Florida.

“Art has the power to transform our perspectives and bring us together in new ways,” Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon, Chief Curator of the Orlando Museum of Art, said in a statement. “By offering free admission and exciting programming, we hope to ignite the community’s love for the arts and foster meaningful connections with our exhibitions.”
