FDOH hosting several HIV testing events in Orange County

National HIV Testing Day is June 27

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – On Saturday, FDOH will be offering free HIV testing at two locations.

One of them is at the Mexican Consulate in Orlando on Technology Drive right off John Young Parkway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Another HIV testing spot will be at SeaWorld’s Aquatica Orlando from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

According to Orange County, 13,903 people are living with HIV.

Health experts say about 90% of new HIV infections in the U.S. occur during sex and approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. have the disease though 13% of them don’t know it.

According to HIV.gov, National HIV Testing Day was first observed on June 27, 1995, in an effort to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their status, and get care and treatment.

FDOH Osceola County is hosting a free testing event on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1875 Fortune Road in Kissimmee.
