ORLANDO, Fla. – The LCO, also known as the Licorice-Sticks Orchestra, is back and putting together a variety show featuring some Central Florida talent.
This year, they will be showcasing Calvin Lester’s puppet show “Bird Call,” aerialist Toni Chandler, Brevard Symphony violinist Lisa Ferrigno, A Magi Belly Dance with pythons, Flamenco del Sol, guitarist Jason Aylward and vocalist Shelley Keelor.

They’ll all be backed by a 25-piece orchestra, the LCO Chamber Pops Orchestra and Big Band.
The creator and artistic director behind the show, Rick Kissinger, said they’ve been putting on the show for 15 years, but this is their third year at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
“Variety shows have been around since the beginning of time in various forms and fashion,” Kissinger said. “From the circus and vaudeville, masquerade balls to the Lawrence Welk and Carol Burnett shows of the ‘50, ‘70s, the LCO is just refining an old concept with a few modern twists and bringing variety to our very own community.”

Kissinger said his nonprofit provides more than just an annual vaudeville variety show.
“The LCO creates job opportunities for local artists and a platform for them to express themselves through music, dance and visual arts, especially during the extremely slow summer months here in sweltering, sunny Florida.”
The show is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13. It’s meant for people 18 years and older. Tickets start at $35.
