Westgate Resorts cuts 357 Orlando jobs amid ‘streamlining’

ORLANDO, Fla. – Timeshare resort company Westgate Resorts is cutting 357 jobs in order to “streamline operations,” according to a spokesperson for the company Friday.

The Florida Department of Commerce shows Westgate notified the state about the job cuts on June 28, with the workers all expected to be out of a job by June 30.

The jobs are in Westgate’s marketing and operational support teams, according to the company.

“Team Members affected by these changes will be given the opportunity to apply for open and available positions throughout the company,” according to a company statement.

David Siegel founded the Orlando-based timeshare company in 1982, which has grown to 22 resorts across the country. He recently stepped down as chief financial officer.
