DeLAND, Fla. – A woman who tracked her stolen purse to a Checkers in DeLand was shot at by the accused thieves Thursday evening, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

After the woman’s purse was stolen at Taylor Place Apartments earlier that day, she and two others hit the road upon receiving a notification that her credit card had been used at the fast food restaurant, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The group arrived at the Checkers, confronted the suspects and retrieved the purse before following the suspects’ car to get its license plate number, the release states.

When the suspects noticed they were being followed, two of them fired at the woman’s vehicle, deputies said. No one was hit or injured in the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.

Willie Goosby III, 22; Makhi Edwards, 18; and Alyssa Levy, 26, were taken into custody after being found in the suspect vehicle, which was parked at the registered owner’s address in Deltona, the sheriff’s office said.
